Planning your school or group visit

Sessions are limited to 30 children or adults per session. If your group is larger we will be able to split into smaller groups and rotate between indoor and outdoor activities. The museum has a picnic area which can be used if you are having a full day visit and have chosen not to pre-book your lunch from the museum coffee shop.

Call our Outreach Worker on 01429 270746 between 10:00 - 16:00 Monday - Friday to discuss your visit.

An invoice will be sent to you or your educational establishment one week after your visit. All prices will be inclusive of VAT, payment is due 28 days after the invoice is sent with payment accepted through cheque, cash or card payment.

A letter will be sent confirming each booking. It will include an itinerary and will act as your admission ticket. You will also be sent our guidelines concerning behaviour and our risk assessment. We expect all groups to abide by this otherwise they may be asked to leave. If you arrive late on the day, we cannot guarantee your booked session will be available at a later time and you will still be charged.

Any pre-booked group that has a session cancelled by the Museum will receive a full refund.

Our help

Please phone our Outreach Worker to arrange an appointment if a member of your staff would like to visit the museum before your visit. Make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes before your first timed activity.

Allow time to check in.
Limited space is available outside for coaches.
Brief your pupils about their visit.
Ask them to respect other visitors and the fabric of the building as it is a listed monument.

Please remember that you are responsible for the behaviour of your group and must remain with them at all times. You will be advised of emergency procedures upon your arrival./li>

Is it possible to bring a group to the museum when it is open to the public?
The museum is open Thursday - Sunday and if booked in advance normal group charges will apply.

Could we have a tour outside of normal hours?
Of course but we will need to co-ordinate it with you, there will be an extra charge..
